Gorgeous antique 19th century sideboard dresser / china cabinet in what is either probably English oak. Nicely handmade piece of cabinetry which comes in 2 pieces for easy (relatively) moving and using. All hand pegged with wooden dowels- no nails in this piece of furniture (there might be a couple of small finishing nails in the muttons- the cross pieces in the glass display area- and some later reinforcement strips/screws but they were probably added later). The barley twist stretcher legs look to be hand carved and the moulding finish to the doors and top cross-arch are all pegged and hand fitted as well.
The piece is in good to very good condition considering it is over 100 years old. Doors swing fine and smoothly – locks are non-operational, however the key fits-might work with some oil. There are age related scratches, dings, and marks, but no real damage to speak of. If you want new- this isn’t for you. If you want beautiful craftsmanship from a bygone era in great condition considering the age, this is a marvelous piece.
It measures approximately: The lower cabinet measures- 54″ X 39 3/4″ High X 20 3/4″ Deep —The top measures approximately 13 2/3″ deep and 40 1/4″ high – Total height is approximately 80″ (6′ 8″ high). There are 2 shelves in the upper cabinet- both of which are removable- and there is one shelf in the lower cabinet.
